Nice and spring like today. Figgered I'd head for the hills and snoop around our lot.
Still LOTS of snow. I took a pic of what you can see of our disk harrow at the food plot. I found a sunny spot that was bare to make camp and "boil up". I went down to the steam for a peak. Be a while fore we're fishin I think.
Some nice sittin in the sun. Made myself a tea and some chicken soup.
Yup, brought my old 44 Trapper along.

Looks good pal wish I`d been with ya though I might of been late for the soup keeping up with ya.

Hey Jay.....you must have needed a wheelbarrow for all that gear you lugged out there. Even so, I'm sure it was worth it all...nothing like woods loafing.....and don't foerget..."don't let your meatloaf".----6
Not much Nath. A red squirrel and a few birds. The deer don't winter there. They move down the road about 5 miles and yard near Athens. It's pretty desolate in winter.
I had a .22 pistol with me, but gave the squirrel a pass.

Where did you find the canvas sling ?? Looks like a great outing. Did you take a nap in the sun ?
Those are my favorite sling. It's the old M1/M14 cotton canvas sling. In either green or tan, they repro em too. I wear a lot of wool, and they stay put on the shoulder. They make em in nylon too, but they are too slick.
I didn't nap, but probably should have. Been up since 9pm Thursday.

I hate gettin' old....used to love getting out in the woods.....I still can but after playing it in my mind, I know it's always going to be the sos so I lay myself down and stay in bed.
Got to get to bed...a big cast bullet match tomorrow...gonna use the 1881 Marlin with the 30" #3 barrel.
Hey Jay....don't let' your pork roll but most important, don't let your knee grow.---6
