Why are they hiding the poles?

This may seem trivial to some, but it's been bugging me for years.

Why do the map makers, globes, Google maps all hide the north and south pole?

If you look at a flat world map, the ones that look like they cut a globe into slices and laid it flat, the polar areas are never shown.
If f you look at a globe the poles are exactly where the axle is and there is always a large degree wheel there obscuring a big chunk of the polar areas.
I've spent hours trying to find the north and south pole on Google maps without success.

So what are they hiding? Santa Clause's house? Or does the earth really have an axle through it with a degree wheel at both poles? That wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Has anyone ever seen a map or a globe that shows the poles? If so can you point me to it. I'm tired of being bugged by this.

That was interesting. I wonder if someone could actually pass into the hole and go into the inner earth?
If that were true that would be fascinating.

It's a part of the global elitist plot to dumb down the little people.

The poles are only for scientists and the military. And Richard Branson.

I was discussing this with my wife last night and we decided that these holes at the poles are where the old Vikings and other sailors fell into and vanished. Also the legends of the sea monsters came from the occasional inner earth ocean critter that made it's way to our side for a visit.

So there must be people there, probably Vikings po'd cos they can't find any body else to raid and pillage, so I think we should mount two expeditions. One from the North, one from the south and work on meeting in the middle.
We could even record it for YouTube vlogs and get the Patreon folks to bank roll us :wink: :lol: .

As far as guns we could make this a Leverguns sponsored trip and bring what we got. :mrgreen: I think between those of us adventurous enough to go we can cover what ever comes our way. Unless there be dynosoars and maybe even them too.

This sounds like fun.

Interesting. I work with maps every day for my job and I've never even thought about this. I don't work in areas near the poles. We do get pole reversal every so many million years and magnetic vs true does change, so maybe it's a moving target to pun a phrase...and they can't hit it.....HA!

I agree with JMiller BUT I'm 99.999995% sure it would be a 1 whay trip- from either end of the earth.
I propose that we send the Hollywood 'heros' and the enviro nazis, bunny huggers and as many o dumbo supporters as we can.

I'm not sure if it's due to pole reversal or what but I have two compasses that now point south.

The holes are for mounting your globe when you have them on your table. Without the holes the globe would just roll around on the table and fall off.

mostly because there are two poles - the center of rotation - and the magnetic pole.

and they both slowly drift around as the Earth wobbles on its axis..... :roll:

My maps show neither Poles nor Russians...
