Seeing no one else mentioned it I thought I`d post something, I`m heading out in the yard with a rum and coke in about 20 minutes to watch it get dark.
This is your only chance to get some from the ole lady twice in one day

30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres
250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!
Pretty dang cool looking here!! I 25 is going to be a mess with ever one going back to Colorado, it must have been bumper
to bumper traffic from Denver to past Wheatland Wyo. today ( 180 miles) the way Denver news showed & of course I had to do a bit of
rubber necking earlier today
I`m to far north disappointment here, watching through my welding helmet, came in for a refill.

Getting a pretty good pile of wood split anyway, think it needs more rum.
On a serious note to me it`s all signs of the inevitable.

We got gipped a little here in Casper from wildfire smoke and we had a single long thin cirrus cloud that tamed it down some. Still a hoot, especially on the plains where you can see the shadow coming at you at Mach 2+. With the smoke I only made out a couple of planets and one star during totality. What was really cool was seeing the glow of a sunrise in the west just before the end of totality. I feel sorry for those that only saw the sun itself; the real cool part was all the other effects. I was at a small airport in north Casper where I keep my small plane. We had folks from all over come in; more planes than that airfield ever had before. That's nothing like CPR that was covered with rich folks in their Lears and G5s. Little folks here but great folks. Some from Texas, Minnesota, New Mexico, even Alberta and of course several from the Denver area. We had a great feed put on by the folks that own the airfield. I hope all the eclipsers had as good of a time as I did.
ollogger, I bet it will tale more than a few days to clean up at Glendo. I heard that place was going to be a zoo.

LeverLuver, don't no how Glendo did, tons of traffic early this morn so it might not have been the big 3 day party some expected
I went by Glendo about 6 pm on Friday & about all I seen was porta pottys
There were a few folks heading south that were keeping an eye on WYDOT cameras and following facebook and such and they said that emptying Glendo was more than a 4 hour affair to the point of choking I-25 down. Doesn't like fun to me.

I've been in one total eclipse, over a decade ago. The glow at the horizon was visible all around for a while and was my favorite effect. That and the birds heading to the trees to roost. Due to those trees, I didn't get to see the shadow coming, but that would have been quite the treat. Here yesterday, it was only 93% or so. The sky dimmed markedly, the temperature dropped some, and this combined with an encroaching cloud bank got the crickets going.
Passing thru Wheatland, headed to Glendo, saw people on the overpass waving at all the cars passing by. Decided to stop at the rest stop area about 19 miles South of Glendo, so missed a bit of totality. Was trying to get a pic of the sun just coming out of totality, so missed the Western sunrise, but saw the "nightfall" arriving at the start and got a quick pic of it getting dark and of the eclipse just coming out of totality and the sky turning blue again.

My son was in Iowa last nite, called me about dark and asked what effect the eclipse had down in Hillsboro, TX... I told him it was completely dark, no big deal, the earth eclipses the sun right on schedule, every nite... woe be unto us when it doesn't.

There is a fine line between hobby & obsession! AND... I'm over it!!
No I ain't ready, but let's do it anyway!
Before the clouds covered everything we could actually watch the movement of the moon ... but that might also have been the absenthe in my Sczarac.
According to cow-orkers in Riverton, it got dark enough, long enough, to trip the photosensors on the parking lot lights.
C2N14... because life is not energetic enough. מנא, מנא, תקל, ופרסין Daniel 5:25-28... Got 7.62?
Not Depressed enough yet? Go read National Geographic, July 1976 Gott und Gewehr mit uns!
We were just outside the path of totality. Lots of traffic heading towards Columbia to catch the event. They send the kids home from school at noon. It was interesting, though we didn't get too dark here. More a change of colors than darkness. It was nice to enjoy with the family from our deck. I Renner seeing this in 1979...
Here in PA it only looked like it was going to storm, then it cleared up again. For those of you in the heavily affected areas, how did your pets react?
