I bet this consignee is happy

It's either leaving the country, going into a private domestic collection, or a museum. Serious bidders.

You know I can't shoot a 1911 cos that long hammer / short grip safety chews up my hand, but ..... boy oh boy could I use that cash! :o

Yes....I'll say.......how many 3 digit 1911's are still around in that condition, let alone for sale. Personally, I think the guy paid too much but some people have $100,000 like I have a hundred dollars so what the heck, you want it...you buy it.

He could have had a nice Singer or North American Arms for that.

Absolutely amazing!!!! I did a search of the bid history just to view it. The losing bidder was right there from the first bid to his last $70k bid! Hope the payment goes without a hitch!

o.k. I probably overpaid for it a bit, but it matches the others in my collection :)

I'd love to see the collection of whomever bought it!

I think most bidders or buyers look at these sales as quirks, and not the norm. I doubt they'll drive the price up in general, or on similar guns, as they're simply flukes.

I was being facetious. I realize that is not representative of the more usual collector market.
