hasta la vista

Post by Grizz »

so, if I can get EVERYTHING loaded up in the manvan today, daughter and I are driving to Ariel tomorrow. After the van leaves I'll be forced to get to work integrating the solar panel, autopilot, radar, computer and new engine into a complete operations package so I can sip espresso and try to stay awake for about a hundred hours at a time.

that's my time estimate to get the boat the approx 500 NM from where it is to where I is. that's half the distance from here to Sitka on the outside route, which is the further plan.

to start, we, (boat and I), will descend through three locks about 245 feet to sealevel, over about 250 statute miles, then add on about 250 nautical miles to get to the mooring to refit for the Alaska leg.

I won't be spending much time online, but I will check in from time to time and if anything interesting happens ( ) I will try to update this post occasionally. This will probably constitute the entire trip log as I am desperately challenged as a record-keeper.

Here is the data sheet on the boat: http://sailboatdata.com/viewrecord.asp?class_id=593

They have a great reputation as good sailors and very good seaboats, which I am sure to test thoroughly on this shakedown cruise.

Prayers UP for all of You'All, that your voyages are in fair wind and tides, and that the storm tracks avoid your tracks.

Godspeed friend.

Good luck on your voyage, be careful of the Columbia river bar, been through there on a 40' fishing boat and I'll never forget it.

Sounds like a great trip! I had a Pearson 26' but a little later vintage. Outstanding boats and point better than a lot of the newer carbon fiber / plastic floaters out there.

May the winds be in your favor Sir!

Grizz, I sure will keep you on the prayer list. May the Lord put those that need to hear the word in your path so you can witness to them on your trip.

Take meclizine along just in case. Or get a prescription for Trans-Derm Scop patches.
