First pour with new pot

Decided I better play tonight as it looks like I'm going to be on my quad plowing most of tomorrow with the now forecasted 18-24" of snow coming.

So off to the shop, turn on the radio and get down to it. I filled it with nice freshly poured ingots. Set my mold on the wood stove to warm.

Spent about an hour & a half making .257-65's which weigh in about 67-68. They measure right a .260. Rough estimate is I made about 175 tonight before my back started hurting.

These are GC bullets, going to hold off sizing/lubing until later.

Ya must be out east, sounds like a big storm, stay safe.
The old backs sure don`t stand up like they used too huh, a full day standing on the cement shop floor and I`m hurting.

I stand when casting and three hours is about my limit before my back starts to ache.

Dang...sounds like you guys spent your better days doing illicit drugs and heavy boozing. I'm an OF at 62 and I can cast 8-10 hours straight...no BS. BUT.......Blaine likes to laugh at this.....me being half Italian.......for real..the genes in Italians give them strong backs from generations of ball busting work. I'm just living off the fruits of THEIR labor.

Gunny.....I'm sure you know this but you never size and lube until 24 hours have passed.

Yea baby....we is gonna have funsies tomorrow. Got me 20 gallons of diesel for the Kubota and a 30 pack of Coors light that I had to hide in the back of the Jeep....mom frowns upon such things.

Its storms like this that really make me appreciate my retirement. ----6

If that storm is half what the weather folks are threatening you folks are in the soup. White soup. That same storm came over us on Saturday and just gave us wind. I'll take the wind!

And did you get the Arsenal mold, GunnyMack? That 67 grains is just what mine does with Linotype. Right at 70 grains from wheelweights.

This is an NEI mold I bought 20 odd years ago!
I haven't casted in many years!
I melted down a box of 500 8mm that were supposed to be .338's. I'm not sure what the mix is.

Now Six, I didn't know about casting- sizing waiting period! Thanks for that heads up!

Storms like this makes me wish for a plow on the Jeep! But my quad will push this well enough. Not much on the ground now, but forecast still calling for 13"+ today!

I used to cast for the 25-20 , 25-36 Marlin and the 218 Bee . I always thought it a pain in the butt . But I got some pretty decent results at the time .

6pt you are right, I forgot how difficult these little bullets are to pick up! Lots to be said for bigger cailbers!
