The Sig MPX is a keeper!

Post by 2ndovc »

Got out this cold but sunny morning with the new(used) MPX.

This thing is just plain fun! Very little recoil, not a lot of noise.
Ran a box of Federal American Eagle 115 FMJs through it. Most of the first magazine is on the
target. There's at least 10 rounds in that group at @ 6:30 on the target. Range was only 35 yds though. Did some plinking around with an older box of Remington 115s that had gotten wet. They all went off surprisingly.
Going to put an Aimpoint on this one. Only criticism I have so far is that the trigger sucks. Hopefully that will smooth out with some use. Don't think it's had more that a few rounds through it.
Oh, that and the magazines are pretty pricy.

Next trip I'll take out some 147 Gr. ammo. Should be even quieter. Might have to do the SBR/ Supressor gig with this one. We'll see what Mr. Trump can do about that. :D

I'm still debating a Glock lower from Palmetto.

I've been looking at those and other 9mm carbines for the last year or so. I was just about to order a new Colt when I was offered the Sig for $1100. Couldn't say no and I'm really glad I didn't..
I had kinda written them off as they are on the heavy side and I could barely lift one when I got out of the hospital about this time last year. Amazing what a year of physical therapy and exercise can do! :D

What I'd really like is a .40 upper, then I don't need to buy new mags and would only have to carry 1 flavor of ammo. Not a real high priority though...

Thanks for posting JB. I've been looking at 9mm carbines for some time. I might look at them. It seems like all the AR-15 based carbines have one issue or another.
