I think if I were ever told I needed hearing aids, I'd just wear one of those for awhile instead, and see how well it worked; could save $4,000 or so and work just as well.

Older fellow at our club is deaf as a post, you really have to speak up quite a bit to talk with him. He bought some electronic ear muffs for range use, with them on you can carry on a normal conversation with him and not have to speak up at all.

Seems like these might work the same way?

Hearing aids at Costco are $1799.00, I got a pair in April. I say huh? about 95% less.
