Marlins 2 Deer 0

Post by Marlin32 »

Beautiful opening morning yesterday to the deer season. I let a small spike go by me as a few minutes prior saw a larger buck north of me who would show up in a few minutes. My 82 year old father didn't, the spike ended up in front of him and Dad shot it with his Marlin 336 in 30-30 with Federal 170 grain bullet at about 25 yards.
Two minutes later I,shot a buck at about 45 yards with Marlin 336A 32 Special, 170gr Federal
both of those deer dead in tracks, (good shot placement)
Both bullets caused incredible internal wounding on these deer. At close ranges, these rounds are just devastating on whitetails.

CONGRATS! It's real nice when the deer follow the script.
I hope I can make the NY opener this year, want to break in my new Henry 41 mag!

Congrats to you and your father. Good to see father and son enjoying the outdoors together. I took my dad out Saturday evening for a few hours also. We were carrying the same calibers.
