Home-made 'Alaskan' lumber mill

I have a much smaller one to rip up to 15" wide (the bar length determines that), but with a proper ripping chain and a long enough bar you could make lots of stuff.

You need serious power for wide cuts though, so I wonder about an electric chain saw for that use.

Doc,
That's a lot of work to one I don't see many people doing today. Takes a major amount of patience and no-mistake measuring along with perfectly aligned/sharpened teeth. Here in Pa, we have a small family run sawmill a few miles down the road where people can take their logs to get sawed up.

You see that post hole bar the guy uses? I've got many hours on one of them.

Electric chain saws won't cut the mustard. Not enough revolutions per second or whatever they call that measurement. I keep one around here for small jobs near the house as every time you start up a gas powered saw you cut the life out of it with this ethanol damage.----6
