Re: November Leveraction Pistol Caliber Postal Match
Greetings,
I was wondering if there have been any considerations about a rimfire match?
That would give me twice as many entries.

Re: November Leveraction Pistol Caliber Postal Match
Finally got out to do my shooting for November. This was verrry interesting; gave me a real shock.
Here's my one that counts: Rossi 44mag with receiver sight and green fiber optic front, 24" octagon barrel. I was sure that this would be the optimum setup for 50m offhand, but got the worst score of all with an 82. But I had along a variety of weapons and thought I'd shoot them all at the same target even if they don't fit the competition requirements. First was the 300 Savage m99. 117 grain RanchDog 32/20 bullet at 32/20 velocities. 82 with one "X" so only better by an x than with the Rossi So then I break out the 300 Savage with scope in the form of a Rem 760; same 32/20 level load. Whoa baby! I would have bet that a scope doesn't help a bit at 50 yard off-hand. But when your eyes have got as bad as mine I guess a scope does help a bunch (96 with 4 "X"s). Then here was my old favorite rifle, a Marlin 30/30, receiver sight, green fiber-optic front: also 32/20 level load. (I've put bushels of lead thru this one). And indeed the 88/two "X" was my best iron sight shooting. And I had the AR with 3x optical along to see how it would do. Danged little short, light, made-by-mattel thing that I don't feel I can hold for beans off-hand, though it is a good shooter from a rest. Ha! the 90 score (I had a little "oops" and had shot 12 shots before I realized it, so went ahead and did 20 and divided by 2) was second best score. So it looks like this old kid can't see to shoot a peep sight any more -- I've gotta' have glass. Cripes!

I didn't know it could happen to a fellow at such a young age. I knew things looked a little extra fuzzy but I thought I was still shooting almost as well as ever.Merle wrote: Welcome to the old timers club!

Re: November Leveraction Pistol Caliber Postal Match
Earl, thought I was going to give you a RUN for your money... but November flew by with only a couple of days at home... and slipped past.
You're the WINNER of November's Levergun Pistol Caliber Postal Match!
Time for some new goggles if there's that much of a difference tween the scope & irons! Oh yeah, next time download & print out the approved target!
You'll probably find it more difficult than having that bright orange aiming point!!!

Re: November Leveraction Pistol Caliber Postal Match
Huh? I can't believe this bunch let me sneak by with an 82. A passel of you folks didn't get your shooting done, did you?
It had been a long time since I had just stood on my hind legs and shot at a paper bulls eye. It was a kick to use a batch of different weapons on the same target and I got some interesting information out of the exercise I wouldn't have picked up if I'd done my usual tin can blasting. Gonna' do more of this! (And maybe get some new glasses.)

Re: November Leveraction Pistol Caliber Postal Match
Congratulation Earl! Griff, thanks for taking your time to organize the postal match. My apologies for not participating!
I had good intentions, however, the day that I had planned to go shooting, my wife made me go to a wedding with her instead.
