Bore guide for Savage99,250-3000

Post by big bear »

I have Dewey brass Muzzle cleaning rod guides for my 30 cal and 45 cal lever guns. I was given a modified 30-30 case which works well as bore guide for my Model 71. What can I use for my 250 Savage 99???

....Maybe a drilled-out 22 Hornet case...?

Precision machined from durable, anodized aluminum, the set comes with interchangeable tips that cover bore sizes from .17 up to .416 and the thread-on nozzles prevent the guide's sticking in the chamber.

If you have to clean from the muzzle Slip one of these onto a 22 cleaning rod..Should be good for a .25

+1 to that idea!

Check for those at Track Of The Wolf or Dixie Gun Works if none of your local shops carry them; and as they're brass, you can easily drill the through-hole larger to fit your rod as needed.

I use the drilled-out Hornet case (like Doc AJ suggested). I imagine any 22 cal cartridge would work but the long-necked, thin-walled hornet case works perfect and is unobtrusive. 'Bout a 1/4" drill I think.
