An artist amongst us

Post by earlmck »

A few weeks ago fellow levergunner 3855 showed us a picture of the very nice Win 65 he'd acquired and asked about 218 Bee brass. I sent him some brass and in return he gifted me with this quite nifty pen. Says he turns the barrel (of the pen!) out of some nicely grained oak he has.
Not quite a levergun, but the side-lever does work well for use as a pen. Here we have bolt open:

And bolt closed (ready to write):

Thanks again Mike!

That looks very nice.
I've been looking at pen making for some time. I was thinking it would be cool to purchase used and broken stocks from folks all over and note the gun they came from. You could then use the wood for making pens.

Yes, 3855 is a talented dude, especially when it comes to collecting and shooting fine 1886 Winchesters. He has some of the countries finest.-----6

Lovely! Our son gifted me one similar to that when we visited them last year. Too heavy for my shirt pocket, so it does duty as my desk pen.
