Makes you wonder how many times this has happened in other industries.

Well, DuPont's nylon patent is supposedly the main reason hemp went from an ordinary weed to a federally prohibited item.

My uneducated guess is probably all of the big industries. Free market, Capitalism, cronyism, all go hand in hand with large stacks of cash being exchanged. Kind of like "legal corruption".Rusty wrote:Makes you wonder how many times this has happened in other industries.

Re: Coca-cola's history
I remember an amazing (astonishing) account of Coca-Cola and the reasons behind its lift, image, even the shape of the original bottle (shaped like a woman's torso) on the History Channel many years ago.
I think that this link is that entire presentation, but not sure. It is a very long one:

This entry adds to that fascinating lore. Thanks.

Re: Coca-cola's history
One of Pemberton's grandsons bought a very large piece of land in Thurston County, and the firm I worked for was tasked to subdivide it. Also, we had to survey the wetlands that the state "experts" flagged. Pemberton was livid about how much regulations were stifling his developing. He mentioned that if Grandpa had to put up with this Pelosi, he'd have never made a go at it.
