Found out from my Girlfriend this morning that the day care where she works makes the little 4 and 5 year olds go sit in the office if the are seen playing Cowboys and Indians or playing Army and using there thumb and index finger as a pretend pistol or if they make a pretend gun out of legos or there wood blocks.

My girlfriend is totally against it,she has no control over it she takes care of the infants,she is in her mid 50's and from the old school way,I'm almost 60.

BUT everyone else that works there is under 30.

Kinda makes you wonder.

Thanks to my late father (RIP) growing up during the Depression and then serving in WWII and for passing his values onto my brothers and I -- thus my 2 kids (mid- to late- 20s) both grew up with old-fashioned conservative, law-abiding, self-respecting, God-Loving, tax-paying, truth-telling, gun-toting and being personally-responsible ethics, values and viewpoints -- but they are a minority for their age class for sure.

My Dad used to say he was "born 50 years too late"... And now I'm saying about the same, or is it "50 to 100 years late" for me???

Parents CAN change things, and should be more active.

It is often easier to just switch schools, or preferably HomeSchool, but that only solves the problem for YOUR kid, leaving even fewer parents with any sense involved in the Public Schools.

There really should NOT by public-funded schools at this point. Better education, with less peopaganda, can be done for WAY less money; the funding can be distributed to assist poor people WITHOUT involving government.

Sure, they don't produce Sports Heros , but the kids can read, write and cypher well enough to do better at college entrance exams than their Prussian System peers. It's not even arguable at this point.

Back to what I said at first: If Todd gets it, Billy Bob, and LaDasha had better, too OR the culture/attitude/politics will make Ferguson look tame..It's bad enough the way it is.... Unless, of course, you have a brand new way of financing public education. Home schooling, private, and charter schools have no chance of working for every kid in America.

There is no Constitutional provision or Mandate for a cabinet level Dept of Ed... The only government level education department/ministry in the world that employs no teachers, but does have its own SWAT Team...

The McDonald's serve the same stuff in poor neighborhoods as in wealthy ones, for the same price in many cases, and they have no shortage of customers. 'Health care' and 'education' are not any different, in that when the customer pays directly for the service, costs are held down, and quality maximized.

If cost-sharing is deemed necessary, that still shouldn't lead us down the path of handing something so IMPORTANT to the government (which usually screws things up), ESPECIALLY something with the political implications education has, given the unopposed propaganda opportunity presented.

No reason schools can't be all privately run.
