Called two foxes in yesterday. First one came in from the side and Jess attacked before I could get the gun on it.
They had a stand off, foxes ears back and a gaped mouth, it was quite a spectacle. A chase ensued but that was all.
The next one resulted in a two yard shot!
A reloaded cartridge with thirty year old Nobel80 and 1&1/4oz of #1 mixed shot.
This fox is the prime suspect in a series of recent chicken murders.
The prelimary investigation revealed fresh tracks to the chicken residence!
Nice shootin' Nath, them 2 yard shots can be tricky, I once missed a fox at that range when it jumped out the top of a pollarded willow..... a Spaniel and Saluki lurcher took off after it so I couldn't use the second barrel.
Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.

If those foxes get any bigger your gonna need to get a Kevlar suit for your dog.

Nath - How do you come across so many foxes ? Do you call them in, bait them in, etc, etc ?
Or, are they just simply uber-prolific near you ?
.
Prolific for sure.
Sometimes I call and sometimes I just hang around.
Pheasant help by calling out when they see one.
I learn of any pattern of movement and wait for them. Locals give me info.
Dang. Scarry. You should tell the Crown that you need a 1911 to defend yourself from such critters...

Out of curiosity, what type of call do you use for fox?
I used a small electronic device I bought off eBay.
It has a micro SD card in it.
I played the vixen mating sound as mating season has just ended.
Sometimes I use my hand and lips to sound like a stricken rabbit.
