I always wondered how long it would take...
For something like this to happen.
A Macon fugitive is behind bars after calling the local crimestoppers on himself in an attempt to collect a $500 reward check. 65 year old Ronald Jackson is currently being held in the Houston County Detention Center with no bond. According to local authorities, Jackson has been wanted after being connected with a string of home invasions across Bibb County.
“I wasn’t even thinking they was gone lock me up. I thought maybe I turn myself in, they set me lose and cut me a check. Everybody could’ve won had it gone like I planned. I only did it because I am broke and I have to buy my mom a Christmas gift” says Jackson. According to the Crimestoppers division, they have never seen anything like this before. “I couldn’t believe this. I thought someone was playing a prank when were informed that a fugitive had given himself up for the reward money” says the Crimestoppers division officer, Deputy James Williams.
Ronald Jackson has obtained a lawyer and is filling a lawsuit against Crimestoppers for non payment. “I’m still waiting on my money though. Just because they arrested me don’t mean they can just not pay me. I’m broke in jail right now, I need money for the commissary though” says Ronald.
Jackson is scheduled to appear in court in January. He is facing 15 years behind bars but as of today, he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

I am laughing too hard to even come up with a witty comment.

He did the right thing.
He should be paid just like anyone else.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

I sent this in an email to a friend of mine... he said the same thing.
He said look at all the money he saved the tax payers since no one had to track him down.

Re: I always wondered how long it would take...
IF I lived in that area and could be guaranteed that this filth would ACTUALLY spend 15 years behind bars, I'd take up a collection and give him the 500 dollars.
Think of it as a kind of "Criminal-buy-back program"...kind of like those silly "gun buy backs", only in THIS case..it will actually WORK to lower crime.
Point is, I imagine there's more criminals out there who would prefer to be in custody, if their commissary accounts were kept up for a few years, and that's a heck of a lot cheaper than leaving them on the street.

Perhaps pay him the $500 but put it in a savings account that draws interest. That way should he actually complete his prison term there'd be a down payment for a room in a nursing home for him.
