Saw an interesting Winchester model 92 this weekend

Post by rjohns94 »

It was a takedown in 44-40, stamped WCCO in 2 places, one of which had 686 after it. On right side of receiver was, in small letters HOP.

From what I understand, the WCCO is the Winchester costume company, stage prop management for early movies. The barrel was a bit rough inside, I'm guessing due to black powder blanks.

The HOP is said to stand for Hop-Along Cassidy, played by William Boyd, and this rifle was supposedly his rifle used in many of his western movies. Priced at $4999.

It was in great shape for 2nd year issued weapon .

Anyway, thought it was cool if it is all true
