Rumbler 500 - first oil change + first long trip

Post by AmBraCol »

For those who've been following along on our "motorcycle diary", here's a little something I tossed together recently.

Rumbler 500 - first oil change + first long trip

For the record, I'm really enjoying this bike. Thanks to those who contributed to help make this a reality!!! It is already proving to be a very good tool for parts of our ministry here.

Yes, indeed. Every engine should have them, don't know why they don't. Oh, that's right. The more the engine wears, the sooner the company sells you parts or a replacement...

Great scenery. Would have been fun on my old XS2. But think I would have rather heard the Rumbler.

Does the double yellow line mean the same as here? Looked like that was all there was.

Every one of my bikes, magnetic drain plugs go in. I was pleasantly surprised that my 650 Vstrom already had one.

V. scenic. Thank you for sharing.

How do you carry/mount your camera? What software you using to edit/produce your video?

Wish we here in the 'states could lane-split like you do. (you californians, shut up. I don't want to hear it)

Was rather surprised at the number of bikes and scooters out on the road.

Yes, the double yellow line means the same - in theory. In practice, well things can get hairy as folks get impatient waiting for the 1% of the highway that has some kind of passing allowed. More than once I've come around a tight curve to face two semis taking up both lanes, including mine.

I'm using a GoPro 3+ Silver that we picked up on sale last summer. I've mounted it on the handlebars, on a chest plate and tank mount. Today my wife rode with me and played a bit with the "selfie stick" as the tank mount was vibrating far too much and I'd not taken time to attach the handle bar mount. We'll see how that worked out.

For editing I'm just using the GoPro program they offer for free download. It's not the greatest, but does the minimum needed to turn the raw video into something watchable.

Yep, there are a lot of bikes down here. Poor man's transportation for the most part. Few big bikes (big meaning over 125cc) since Colombians don't pay annual taxes on bikes that are 125 cc or less.
