Gawd I'm old. I remember when they were flying the powder blue demonstrator around the TAC bases. We rolled out for it and couldn't see the darned thing. No smoky engines, the color of the sky. If they hadn't turned on the landing light and dropped the gear we might have missed our cue to follow it in after touched down.

Why does fire appear to be coming out of the wing of one? Without the flame, I'd figure it to be a smoke generator.
If those guys were after your ***, "sexy" is probably not an adjective that would occur to you!

Man am I old, I still remember when all branches were flying the F-4 Phantoms. I did not know any Guard units were still flying F-15s. The Hawaii Guard here flies F-22 Raptors which replaced their F-16s.

Yep, nothing like the sound of a Phantom coming in low and meaning business. It's a howl you'll never forget. Sadly, this is the fate of one of those birds.
It got turned into a "plane on a stick" at some point. When the airbase was shutdown and the locals turned it into a freight airport they just drug it off into the dirt at the end of the ramp.

The fire you asked about was a flare that had just been released. Flares are part of the IR missile defensive system.
