Getting older

Post by jnyork »

Saturday will be the big 75. Starting to feel it a little, cant work as long or as hard as I want. For my birthday present I got a Handicap Parking card to hang on my mirror. Swore I never would, but there it is. Can still make it to the range and to the desert for prairie dogs, so still have a little spark left.:D

My brother just passed 70, and while I was on the phone he arrived with a pickup truck full of mulch for me. Before I could hang up he had unloaded it all in a nice pile, so I realized that even though I call him 'old', he is still pretty tough.

'Old' is relative...

Passed that milestone a bit over a year ago and I really feel it this morning. Changed the rear hub/bearings on our Ford crossover yesterday so I spent the morning bent over, under a fender. Really felt it when I bent over to get my shoes.

One of my big enjoyments is working on cars... the best investment I've made in the last 40 years was:
Image
(not mine, as mine's full of greasy tools, and not a few left over parts!)

And nowadays they have so many more styles will all levels of comfort...

Aye, as with 2 double axle trailers, 5 cars, two mowers and 2 farm tractors, bearing maintenance along with brakes are a way of life!

This is true, but there's still many things that nearly require a contortionist to complete with these dang automobiles.

I've been doing it for nearly 30 years, and I'm about done, at least that's what my bones are saying.

Happy Birthday jnyork!

Happy Birthday Mr. York!!! I'm just a Kid as usual at 61. . Somehow we all have to keep going. My neighbor across the street was 89 and still going strong every day. always busy. one of My favorite memories ,when I could see the Groundhogs in His big garden I asked Him if He wanted Me to get rid of them He said "No I plant extra just for them". .

Two years ago I thought that I was doing all right when I turned 75. Now at 77 I still feel like the Lord blesses me every day when I get up and walk to the Kitchen to make a pot of coffee for me and my wife. I do tend to rest a little more when I am working on something, I tell my wife it's because I'm getting older.
