"Home Service" lead supply - any leads?

Post by AmBraCol »

Hey guys, my wife and I will be heading up to the good ol' US of A this summer for a few months of "home service" (some call it "furlough" but 15,000 miles of travel in about three months across 12 states isn't exactly vacation - unless your handle is Griff) As usual, an effort will be made to pop caps, burn powder and fling lead whenever opportunity presents itself. The last time up there my cache of projectiles was getting a bit thin and is in need of resupply. The three major calibers I'm interested in using are .357, .430 and .452 - in 38 spl, 44 spl and 45 Lung Clot. Weights of 158 gr, 240 gr and 250 gr respectively. Inquiring over on the Gord Board the following two companies have been suggested. I'll confess to sticker shock as no projectiles have been purchased by yours truly since '06 with the exception of 400 swaged Horandy's included in a powder order just prior to the current disaster being sworn into the office of POTUS, so looking at the big retailers and perusing the sights below gave me quite a start. Anyway, are you aware of a reputable company that can beat the price and customer service of these guys?

Paul there is a shop north of me that I just found out about, Matt's Bullets in Highland Arkansas just a couple of miles from Hardy. His site shows some real nice bullets, I have not made it up there yet but after I go I'll let you know how they are. Just type in mattbullets and his site will come up.

I buy all my cast bullets from Dardas.......Matt lives 10 minutes from my house so there is an incentive there for both convenience and price.

But Matt does do a great product........and Matt is a good guy. Shot with him for years in 4 position small bore and DCM/CMP matches at Linwood Bay Sportsmens club.

Are you expecting to pass through mid Michigan?

Griff recommended these guys when I was looking for pills for .32 S&W. Great prices, great bullets, and great service.

Paul,
If you happen to be anywhere near S.E. Pa......let me know and I'll hook you up with cast bullets that cannot be bought.......free. The only thing you have to do is let me know a week in advance and I will have them sized, lubed, and boxed. Yes. Of course......in appropriate numbers.-----6

Thanks, Jack!

The last time we were that far east (other than south of the Rio Grande) was in '98. Our support base is generally west of the Mississippi. But I appreciate the offer. If we ever get over that way on our way TO instead of FROM I may just take you up on the offer. :D

By the way, that copy of "Hell, I Was There!" just got loaned to a retired police officer who got marooned down here in the hospital. Just wanted to say "Thank you!" again. I've gotten a lot of good out of it over the years along with "Sixguns".

Paul,
Unlike others, I am a man of my word. For real, if you need cast bullets in weird calibers, you let me know. Any man that carries the word of the Lord is #1 in my book.----6

Believe me, I take any offers to stop by and leave grimy finger prints on firearms, help burn encapsulated gun powder, fling lead or even just chew the fat VERY seriously. :) Our travel map is already getting dotted with invitations to drop in as we travel. Someday I need to go ahead and make another NE USA trip. Last time was in '98 and we barely hit the SE corner of PA, and NY and NJ where they conjoin and didn't make it anywhere further NE. So there's an entire blank NE corner of the country I've never been in. The longer we put it off, the less I feel like going - what with, well let's leave it at that so as not to turn this into a political thread...

You REALLY need to run that brass through a tumbler. It's looking mighty dingy...
