It's been nice knowing you, but my wife is going to kill me!

Post by Ysabel Kid »

I decided to get "crafty" today and make my own Christmas tree ornaments. Here's what I came up:

Image

Y2K loved them - then said "Mom's never going to let you put them on the tree!". I told him maybe I'd just put them up without telling her. He dared me to do so.

Well, I couldn't chicken out now, could I?

So the ornaments are on the tree. SWMBO has not discovered them yet - probably because she's getting ready for 20 family members coming over for a Christmas party tomorrow evening. My sister-in-law always checks out our tree and is sure to discover them and point them out. The only question now is...

... will she kill me in front of all the witnesses, or wait until they are gone?

It's always best to put your woman in her place while a large gathering of family is watching.

Hmmm... did you put them on the side next to the wall? Or did you bravely put them "front & center"?

It has always been left to me to put up a tree, decorate it, put up outdoor lights, and all the rest that goes along with it. Maybe I can get PillHer to decorate the tree next year by putting some of those type of ornaments up and watching her re-do it. Maybe not, as she doesn't even look at the tree or the lights. Scrooge was sort of based on her, or at least it seems that way.

Well... she discovered them in the morning.

We actually put up two trees. The one in the family room is very traditional (i.e. - she decorates it). We've always had a smaller tree near the foyer, right outside my office, on the way to the downstairs bathroom. This is the tree we use for the kids home-made decorations. It is also the tree we use for what my wife lovingly calls my "nerd decorations". I have collected the Star Trek ship decorations that Hallmark puts out every year. I put my gun-company decorations right along with these. You can't miss them coming out of the bathroom! :D

So, she comes to me in the morning and says, "so, I see you've been busy making ornaments...". I just grinned and said "yep".

Then it backfired. She didn't complain about the ornaments, other than to roll her eyes. But she said, walking away, "looks like you have time for some of the things I need you to do around the house..."

There goes my Christmas vacation!

Here's some pictures of them up on the tree:

I told my wife your tale and that was the FIRST thing SHE thought too.

See, our problem is they are ALL on the same page...........they got some creepy kind of telepathy or something.

Then she says to me, I know you just keep your little projects locked up in the gun room or out of sight somewhere............How did I get in trouble over this?

I wouldn't worry about your wife. I irritated my ex many times in 14 years and she never retaliated once…..while I was awake.
