There went the first hour of the day :D :D fantastic link thanks.
Collected axes as a younger fella, a big Swiss felling axe was always my favorite, I'll check the brand, it could be the maker you've provided us. Anyone interested in axes will love this site.

They are beautiful and well made axes. Check out Council Tool's Velvicut and Hudson Bay axes as well.

Found the big double bit at the bottom of the pile. It says made in Sweden and has a crown with 3 letters or numbers on the other side, can't tell. The axe came for the pacific north west, as did most from my collection.

How about these:
http://www.tuatahiaxes.com/workaxes.html

You have to pick the grind based on the wood:

I used to have a 5 pound single bit I bought in an old hardware store in Ellsworth, ME, they also sold broad axes. That thing threw a big chip.

I also ran into a competition choppers forum. The problem with racing axes is letting the blade turn at the strike. They are thin for the first inch and you can put an S curve in the blade.

I'll stick with my Fiskers. I bought the chopping model and the splitting model. I sure miss that 5 pounder though. The ex threw it out after I left.

Got any tips on retiring on a 25 year average of less than 20K?

There is always boondocking on BLM land.....Some gas money, and a means to move around a bit when necessary......I've thought about it, and do believe it's more than feasible...

This is a Nissan 2500 cargo van. V6, averages 18mpg. I need to change a few things to maximize storage space under the bunk, but I've taken this out twice across the USA, coast to coast. No plumbing as of yet, except for my blue plastic bucket, and a fold up toilet seat that uses a small trash bag...A Honda 2000 works the LED lights, MicroWave, electric blanket, and CPAP. A few more mods, and some more insulation and I think I could live in this. Next step is to hook it up to tow my new Jeep Wrangler. This is just for hunting, and vacations. If I ever decided to do some serious, full time boondocking, I'd prolly invest in a medium size Airstream, and PickUp......Yep, I got some serious "misery" going on here, Jack
