What would you do?

Post by Ysabel Kid »

A few years ago I purchased a set of custom grips from "Exotic Grips by Esmeralda" for my Old Model Ruger Single Six. These have a celtic-knot design on them, and they are very nice. Unfortunately, they did not fit my specific gun very well.

I replaced them this month with a set of polymer grips that look like ivory, and have the Ruger logo on them. These fit very well and look and feel great. Here are both sets:

So, what to do with the set that didn't fit?

I could sell them.

I could see if I could return them (for an exchange or credit; not sure that is even possible after all this time).

I was thinking about trying to fit them to another revolver. I don't have another Single Six, or another Ruger with a frame that will take them (I tried). I was thinking of trying to fit them to a 1862 Pocket Police reproduction, but it would be a lot of work, and I may screw them up royally!

If Esmeralda is still active -- write her a email with the pics and ask her if she would re-sell them, maybe take a credit toward something else? - 1911 that needs some grip slabs maybe? or another single action?

They are nice

---- sometimes, we also take hickies due to the passage of time as well, but may be an easy sell on Gunbroker or even on here if a guy has the right grip frame ----
i have noticed there are differences in the stainless and blued grip frames in the XR3 variety -- maybe it is something like that?

If none of that works... I always find satisfaction in "payin' it forward".

You could always shop around for another gun that would fit the grips.

KId,
You will not get rich by selling them. Do what I have done for the last 40+ years.......throw them in a box marked, "revolver grips". You should see the single action Colt and "diamond" S&W grips that have accumulated in there....enough to purchase a decent car. :D ------------6

Post them in the classifieds. Not gonna get rich but someone out there needs em.

Like Six, I have a box full of grips too. I keep telling myself I will get around to posting them for sale. Thanks for the reminder. :D

I knew I had them somewhere. All kinds of neat stuff in there from 1880's on. One of these days I'm going to have to through it all.---6

Screw em Brent. I'm spiteful and will use them for firewood first. Or at the least put them up at a local auction and let the nerds fight it out. :D

Oh! Now you know why my buds call me "Sixgun" :D ---6

6, can you spare a set of N frame grips?

My model 57 has pachmayer grips, and I am looking for either magna or target grips.

Ifin ya got something and it's bought and paid for . If you don't need the money then stick it away somewhere !

99 times out of a 100 after you sell said item you will want it down the road . And when ya need it later it'll cost you way more then what you sold the earlier one for !!!!

Or atleast that's been the way it worked out for me
