Single Seven's first day at the range

Post by mav »

I went looking for a 44 special flattop the other day, but came home with a Single Seven.

This was my first chance to take it out. It shot well with the .327 shells I had. Tried a few 32 Longs, not so good, 6"-8".

Mine seems to shoot better with every round through it. Hope yours does as well.

Mine shoots fine but I notice the firing pin is off center on the primer. Are your primers struck in the center?

I stopped by a gunshop on the way to my brothers this last weekend and they had a 5 1/2 barrel single seven in stock.

Not surprising if they are using a frame normally used for another caliber; they probably didn't bother to relocate the firing pin as long as it was in the vital zone.

That's what mine look like. I figured it was because of the placement of the firing pin is for rimfire. I have a single six in 32 H&R and that one hits dead center. I was going to call Ruger about it ,so it's good to hear that it seems to be normal. The only problem is that all the 327 fed I have loaded up for the blackhawk is to long to for the single seven. So I have some shooting to do with the Blackhawk first.

Mine are a bit off center too.

Those AE 100's sure flatten the primers compared to my reloads, even the stout ones.

Sure is a easy to shoot well gun. It has become my everyday trail gun.

Mine does not seem to be off center, but they do seem to be sooted up more than I would expect being full power loads.

I do plan on using it to stock up the stew pot later this winter....
