OT- Morels

Post by Big Bore 94 »

Took out the family today. Morels=0 Asparagus=0, Humming bird nest=1, Frogs=everywhere, Deer=everywhere, Turkeys=0, Ticks=1. Picked a few wild greens. We have had a very cool year and tons of rain. So by tomorrow or the next day it will be morel time. I came home and was washing the mud off of my Browning upland boots. To my surprise I had two locust thorns about 1' in length stuck in the heel. I am glad I had those boots on. Turkey season starts Monday. So the springers will miss the next few trips. Quality family time!

Been waiting for some warm weather so the morels will start to pop. The only problem is that when the weather warms up enough for the morels to pop, the thunderstorms do also.

Looks like I will have to juggle my time between stormspotting and morel spotting. :D
Republic. I like the sound of the word. It means people can live free, go or come, buy or sell, be drunk or sober, however they choose. Some words give you a feeling. Republic is one of those words that makes me tight in the throat . . . . Some words can give you a feeling that makes your heart warm. Republic is one of those words.

In all of the years bumming through the woods and turkey hunting I have yet to find a morel in Massachusetts. Maybe I am in the wrong areas.
