LIVE From Colorado
Well guys, I'm hanging with my son at his digs.....flew in yesterday.......will be in the Rockies in the Northwest corner of Colorado for a few days. Don't expect much as the temps will be in the fifties and warm weather makes me lazy, plus elk don't move much in warm weather.
Probably spend the time looking for yotes.
Yes, the most important item for discussion are the guns. For me, it will be a Winchester model 1886 extra lightweight takedown in 45-90 shooting 330 grain flat points at 1750. In the shoulder holster will be a first gen Colt in 38-40 that can hit beer cans at 100 meters. (Might be our beer cans. ). I'm bringing the old 1862 Colt Police for shyts and giggles.
That boy of mine is from the new generation. He is using one of those new fangled Ruger .308's with his load consisting of a mess of H-4895 and the Barnes TTSX bullet. -----6

What is that second picture? Maybe you could loan your son a proper gun for coyotes. Something with wood handles for instance.
That second picture looks like some kind of new-fangled mouse trap.

Ha! I tried to warn him. I would feel like a fish out of water carrying a shooting iron like that. But he is compromising a bit by carrying a Ruger New Vacaro in 45 L. Colt.-----6

Best of luck, you are right the forecast for the first half of this season is not good for hunters.
I would hang out on the North side in the deep timber to hopefully see one.
Shoot straight with whatever you use!

Hey bud!
Glad you and that precious iron got out there safe. Now Colorado ain't safe.
I sure do like your choice of shootin irons.
While you're sittin around the fire, in between lightin fanny burbs, try and let the scent of gun oil and Hoppes waft over and convert your son to old Winchesters and Colts.
He surely has a nice rifle, its just lacking soul of the oldies.

So, Jack,
Nice guns, as we've come to expect from you! I guess you're headed for Kremmling.

Re: LIVE From Colorado
Thanks guys....in all truthfulness, I've had my fill of killing things. Besides, it really ain't no fun pulling a huge animal 2 miles or so.
So...........I procrastinated and decided to get my license today....no more left over cow tags. A couple of years ago a cow tag was something like $250......they are now $450. I bite my tongue and peel out six Ben Franklins, plus $11 for an over the counter bull tag which I will most likely not use....ouch.
I will take a bull but it's going to have to be big, within a hundred yards, and no more than a quarter mile from camp. -------6

I feel the same way --- but during the season, i guess you have to pay the man just to cart a gun around outside --- who knows though , maybe Six Jr can tag out early and cash yours in too

I'm just trying to picture Jack dealing with the TSA people at the Philadelphia airport (some of the most surly folks around)!

Six, hope you have a great time. Love your choice of weapons. Enjoy your visit

Hanging and hunting with your Son is a great thing (I personally like his choice of weapon)...just got back from Mule Deer hunting in the Northern Cascades (Pacific Northwest), sometimes shooting a deer can ruin a good deer hunt...SIX, have a great time... :)

Hearty applause for your choice in armaments. Real similar to what I would choose 'cept my 38-40 single action tack driver is a 7.5" Bisley.
Have FUN!

Best of luck on the hunt and you are correct on the choice of firearms. I try to only use you son's choice on people. Here is a photo of a trip I got to do in that area in 05.
