On my Move, I could not bring along my "Refrigerator Safe", so I had to come up with something that would fit into a closet in the Rental.

Good thing I didn't have any more Long Guns...





No, it's not a good "safe", but at least it locks, and is behind 2 other locked doors...

I have one of those -- a Stack On my brother got me for Christmas one year ---- it was a 14 gun model that will hold about 12 ---- not bad (14 if i really space em right -- but many of mine have scopes and /or protuberances like pistol grips and such that cut into the room

Its good storage --- not a safe - but aside from theft resistance, im not sure it matters much
-- but my experience as an insurance adjuster has already taught me that most safes that are labelled fire proof -- aren't ---- I've seen people fish many corroded and nasty heat damaged firearms out of safes that were no go's from a salvageability stand point ---

the sad thing is, many people mistakenly thought their insurance policy would cover their guns too --- but most policies have limits on guns, artwork, jewelry, nice watches, and cash of just $2500 without separate coverage added

Some of us have collections worth many many many times that - it would be a shame to get bit by mother nature

You can put 14 in yours, if the last 4 are in cases. But in my case the safe got bumpped and one of them blocked the locking latch. Took 45mins of finaggling b4 i got it open so wont do that again.

When you think about it, any more safe is just icing on the cake. That will do the job 99.9% of the time as for that other .01%, the bad guys will just barge in and have YOU open it.

OI, is does make sense to bolt it to the wall and the floor. People who steal are usually drunk, on drugs, and stupid enough that they cannot figure out how to open it unless they are at their buddie's garage.

My first safe was similar to yours and I remember paving the bottom of the safe with about a thousand pounds of lead.

I've since closed all of the gaps....inside and outside.----------6

Is lag screwed into the floor joists through the T&G hardwood floor. The the studs are in the wrong place to lag to the wall.

When I'm no longer renting, and have more than a 3x3 closet, I'll probably build another Freezer/CMU safe.
