Name That Tuna...........
.
I'm trying to put names to the two young women, whose kayak was attacked/bitten by a Great White Shark off Plymouth, Mass, overturning them, etc:
http://www.capecodonline.com/apps/pbcs. ... y=NEWS2501
I'm thinking: one gal's name should be "Chum", the other "Bait".
Suggestions ?

So they were in the water taking photos of seals, with large predators that eat seals. What could possibly go wrong.....

Re: Name That Tuna...........
I was serious....We have Orca pods all over Puget Sound. They love to visit, and play. They seem to know about humans the way dolphins (their smaller cousins) do. I've been in boats close to them several times. A bit disconcerting, but I don't think anyone in Puget Sound has been hurt by one, even accidently. That poor bubba at Sea World, or where ever, sort of slid into one's mouthGriff wrote:Oh, really?!! Different version. Re: Name That Tuna...........
Kayaking near seals with sharks hunting the seals. That sounds like Sue and her sister Sidal. Orcas on the other hand do not seem to show a liking for human flesh from all that I can find out. I have seen a documentary where and Orca turned a shark upside down and held it still. That caused the shark to drown, and the Orca then ate the liver from the shark. Does it show that I think Orcas are smart and capable of learning? I am fascinated by them.

If you get a chance, try to catch the National Geographic special about a shark named submarine.
It is really scary.

Re: Name That Tuna...........
Hey Mes, I was watching that the other night but low and behold, about 9pm, I realized I was a white guy and I had to go to bed. It was really interesting but I did not get to see the last hour of it. Did they catch it?Mescalero wrote:If you get a chance, try to catch the National Geographic special about a shark named submarine.

No, they did not.
And I don't know how he does the not moving thing.
It seems obvious the the shark is intelligent and can reason....... at least about hunting.
