GUN SHOW THIS WEEKEND IN FLA.

Post by Rusty »

Hey y'all Rimfire just PMed me to ask about the gunshow at the Lakeland Center this weekend.

I need to go. My son has one of those nasty Glocks he thought he wanted but it seems he's seen the light. He's been touched by the spirit of Skeeter Skelton and now wants to trade it for a Superblackhawk. We'll be there some time around noon as best I can figure... Oh no wait, I'm off this Fri. We might get there at the crack of 10. Anyway we'll be there. Hope to see some of y'all there too.

I think I'll wear my blaze orange ball cap and a blaze orange hunting vest just so I can fit in, or stand out whatever happens first.

How many can make it?

BTW Thanks, Rimfire

Not me... But I'd be much obliged if you could keep an eye out for Remington 500 series .22 Rifle magazines...

They seem to be hard to find up here.

I'll be there Saturday ... might make it by 10:30 or so. It's quite a drive for me. I've pre-cleared it with the wife.

Anyone see anything good at the show today? I noticed a few items but didn't pick anything up. Which is why I'm still married.

There was a decent Lighting in 22 for $700. Not much barrel finish left but the wood was in very good shape as was the butt plate. Even the forend looked good ... no cracks.

Noticed a lot of Savage 99's. Most in 300. One in 284 caught my eye, but I think it had a tang safety.

There was a Marlin 1897 that had a lot of case colors, wood in great shape, and great bluing. It was marked at $2175 so I didn't bother to inquire further. A very nice rifle though ... I'm partial to 22's.

I'm not sure how an Iver Johnson side-by-side in .410 gets marked at $3995, but then I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to shotguns.

Then there was the guy walking around with the 94 in 32-40. It was a takedown with a longer barrel (26" maybe?) and a 3/4 mag. Bore was surprisingly clean. Wood was pretty clean and unusually ding free. Receiver, though devoid of all finish, was free of any pitting or scratches, etc. He wanted $2000. I quivered. I would love a 32-40 but I'd rather have a takedown with the shorter mag.

The Lakeland gun Show put on by the gun club is probably the best around.

I was going to go today, but I got to pick up my newest 94 at the FFL this morning.

Plus, we had a community yard sale and thought I should keep the wife company and help sell some of our surplus.

Anyway, tomorrow I'll probably head to the Tampa gun show for some powder and primers and take a couple of firearms to sell.
...and I don't think he even knows it...Walks around with a half-assed grin...If he feels fear, he don't show it. Just rides into hell and back again.

The show wasn't all it could have been. Two different outfits having shows 40 miles apart. No need for the competition.

I picked up a nice NM Blackhawk for my son. Now the pressure is on. I have to learn to post pictures.

Rusty boy, I done told you that if and old man like me can learn to fumble through it you can.
If ya'll make the South Dakota trip bring the Ruger with you and we can do some shooting at church camp.

Jerry I've looked and looked at our vacation schedule at work and I don't see any way I can get into it this summer. I don't think S. Dakota will be for me this year.
We might need to get that fella settled in for a year before we try it. It's up to my pastor.

Where in SD is the church camp?
"People who object to weapons aren't abolishing violence, they're begging for rule by brute force, when the biggest, strongest animals among men were always automatically 'right.' Guns ended that, and social democracy is a hollow farce without an armed populace to make it work."

Buffboy,

The camp isn't in S.D. I had posted on here a few weeks back about a preacher that is moving from Georgia to Rapid City, S.D. to start a new church.

His website is www.baptiststreetpreacher.com and his name is Dan Sherwood. Do you live near Rapid City? If you do or if you know someone that does he will be new in town shortly. I'm sure he would welcome any new members that happen along.
