Remington Recall Saga continues.....
Update on the Remington 700 trigger recall I was dealing with.
April 13th, Original contact, verified serial number, registered for recall, and confirmation email received. Advised that shipping box, instructions etc. would be sent.
May 16th, after no box showed up, and no contact, I called to see what happened. Was told they had a technical problem during a two day period where I registered for the recall. I was told they fixed it, got me in, and would get a box to send my rifle back in 5-7 days.
May 20th, received an email saying the box was shipped, along with a tracking number, and I could expect delivery in 5-7 days.
May 28th, still no box. I checked the tracking number. It shows package was delivered on May 23rd, signed for by someone named Piper, oh and it was delivered to an address in NEW YORK! Last time I checked, I'm still just west of the muddy Mississippi!
I was skeptical about sending it in, now after this latest fiasco, I'm pretty sure it's not going anywhere. I'm thinking if I did send it in to them, I'd probably never see it again.
If I have time tomorrow, I might call them just so they know what a freaking mess this thing is.

That's totally messed up
Ted, definitely let someone 'up the ladder' at Remington know
about your experience & why you're not sending your rifle back.

Called Remington corperate headquarters this morning and explained what was going on. How it's been 6 weeks that I've been trying to send my rifle to fix their problem, and when they finally did ship a box, it went to the wrong state! The gentleman I spoke with was very indifferent, and even a little snarky. I expressed my opinion as to their current level of customer service, and that I wasn't going to be sending my rifle in for fear of never seeing it again. All he said was, "well that's up to you, it's a voluntary recall, it's not mandatory". Nice job Remington.

Get a Timney trigger and move on.
Or trade the rifle for a Winchester.

Re: Remington Recall Saga continues.....
Unfortunately that seems to be more common in "customer service" than real customer service is. What a shame. I asked a Remington rep at DSC last January about getting a design flaw (common problem) fixed on one of their guns. He (in a roundabout way) said good luck getting it done. I sure like companies that stand behind their products. Other than my 1965 era 870s, I don't own any Remingtons. Glad I bought an SR1911 instead of an R1.TedH wrote:Called Remington corperate headquarters this morning and explained what was going on. This was the last Remington I bought, that was in 2010. I won't buy their products anymore. It's a shame what some once great American companies have fallen too.

Re: Remington Recall Saga continues.....
OP, strange but I had the SAME experience. Called in my rifle serial, got confirmation e-mail that my return box was sent. Didn't receive box. Tracking said someone at my home named 'Bray' signed for it then sent it back 'return to sender'. ???
Fired off an e-mail to Remington, they immediately said they'd send me a new box. Two weeks have gone by and no box. Thinking about tracking it but I do t want my blood pressure to spike when I find out what happened this time.
I think a replacement trigger IS in order. Sigh.

Thankfully it was just the box from Remington and not your rifles gone MIA.
No way on God's green earth would I be sending my rifle back to them
with attitudes and problems their displaying.
This is truly a sad day for a company such as Remington.

Re: Remington Recall Saga continues.....
I have a couple of Remingtons. They are likely to be the last I ever get, but they are 2005 and prior, so they are keepers.

Happy with Remingtons in the past I now almost only buy Rugers. My few dealings with Ruger Customer Service has been so good as to be unbelievable.

Re: Remington Recall Saga continues.....
I somehow managed to miss this one. Ted and I bought the same gun at roughly the same time. Ted, can you PM me with details. Need to find out if my gun's trigger is impacted - then based on your experience, when I should buy a Timney trigger!
Re: Remington Recall Saga continues.....
Timney makes a good trigger , but over the past four or five years I've gone to RifleBasix triggers . I also try to buy only Pre 1995 Remingtons if at all possible and plan on fixing any hiccups myself .

I'm with Tycer, get a Timney and be done with it.
Thanks, Tom
