Another Anti-gun Co?

Post by jkbrea »

I flew back with my family from Boston to Ca after a hockey tournament. We flew JetBlue. They offer free WiFi internet service inflight. I tried it and it worked pretty well. But when I tried to log onto this site, or any gun related sight such as gunbroker, auction arms and other firearms forums, it would not allow it. Anything else worked. I don't know if it's JetBlue's decision or whoever provides the service but it sure sucked. Sure made for a long flight. I asked about it on a survey they sent and hope I hear back.

Thanks for the info. I like to hear about how companies treat the topics that I am interested in.

Just stopped at a coffee shop same thing. Have to use the smartphone wifi to check in. Brought it to the attention of people at the coffee shop and they were not aware of these sites being blocked. But it is a chain, so who knows.

On a in-flight service it may or may not be the "fault" of the airline, but a mandate by the TSA/FAA.

I don't know who makes the decision but it was just kind of irritating. First time I flew that airline. They have live direct TV and I wanted to watch a hockey playoff game. Go figure....the row my wife, son and I were in had screens that didn't work. Then the blocked sites. A long 6 1/2 hours.

Since I got this new knee they treat me like a terrorist. I miss not going to the Shotshow but I just don't want to deal with them anymore.

I will only fly in an extreme emergency or if there is no other way to reach my destination. Seems like airlines are company driven rather than customer oriented, and they have the Feds to back them up. I used to figger an airlines ticket was kinda like a contract; I pays my money and they takes me somewhere that they scheduled, when they scheduled it. Taint so, I pay for a ticket and if it pleases the airlines, and I meet all their requirements, they will deliver me to my destination (with or without my baggage) when they feel like it (yes, I've been bumped and had flights hours late and cancelled all together).

(I once flew to N. Carolina from CA. Got there fine. When I wanted to return 2 weeks later, the airlines had pulled out of Raleigh-Durham airport, without mentioning it to ticket holders! That was fun, called to confirm seats/flight and only then learned I had been abandoned. I had to scramble to find another airlines that would honor Continental's tickets...)

I have come to realize (took me a while, only 59 years) that most companies are nothing more than money whores. To me, the worst of the lot are car salesman at a dealership that supposedly is one of those 4 star thingys. A few years back, I had a salesman there so hot, he wanted to punch me. After securing the deal.....from the manager.........I reminded him how he sold a car the week before to a young mother for MSRP.

On that deal, the husband went to the dealership and raised heck but was told, "she signed the contract".----6

I worked in the buisiness of flying people around and retired from it.
I don't mind flying.
I hate what airports and airlines have become.

Normally I'd think the same thing, but as one who flies almost weekly, usually on US Airways, I can tell you I often visit this site when I am on the plane. One of the few times I consistently get a chance to visit! US Airways uses "Go-Go Inflight" internet service, and they do charge for it. But I've visited Leverguns.com, Gunbroker, etc. with no problems.

I think you're onto something there. With a free service they are likely to make the rules a bit more strict than a pay service. I know that if I paid, I would expect to be able to get wherever I needed to go.

I got two artificial hips. The darned machine sings loud and long for me. That and my foreign passport always gets someones attention in the US. Trying to tell a Chinese Border Patrolman and his buddy with a sub machine gun what artificial hips are was quite an adventure.

I was in the hospital for kidney stones. While recuperating I asked for a laptop to some internet surfing. gunbroker & any other gun related websites had access blocked to them so you could get on there website. I think that is oppressive on the hospital's part.
