Funny how things work out

Post by TedH »

So here I was with tax time beating me up over that Krieghoff that I won from the NRA Sweepstakes. I was doing everything I could to scrape up enough cash to pay my taxes on time, but having just bought a new house, it wasn't looking very promising. I had taken a lot of pictures and had an ad prepared to go on Gunbroker, when I stumbled onto an opportunity to make some quick money. I bought a pretty nice sedan that needed some engine work. Being a mechanic, I made short work of it and resold it quickly too. Now I had all but $819 of my tax bill. I thought now I could just sell a couple lesser rifles to come up with the remainder. The same day I was telling some guys about the rifles I had to sell, I received a check in the mail for $813 from my insurance company. A refund of premiums that had just been paid on the house we sold. So there is all my money needed for taxes on that beautiful double rifle. 8)

While I never specifically prayed to the Lord to help me out with this little problem, I can't help but think he had a hand in allowing these things to happen at the times they happened so that I would be able to hang onto this rifle. Thank you, Lord.

Sounds like The Lord has some plans for you and that rifle! :D :D :D A great ending to a great story.

I am very happy to hear the positive ending, though the principle of the government getting it's grubby little hands in your face demanding taxes on a prize you won simply galls me to no end!

Yeah, it was like "Here's your new rifle, but I also have to give you this $3300 kick in the 'nads to go with it."

The way I have to look at it is that I was forced to buy it at 25% of retail.

And what is the chambering of that fine looking beast? I must have missed the original show and tell.

I'm really glad to hear that you're able to keep the prize. That's such a beautiful rifle, and the luck to have won it was phenomenal!

The original show and tell was back in December on the old forum.

The rifle is a 470 Nitro Express. Guess I'll start the hunt for brass, dies and such because I sure won't be feeding it factory loaded ammo at 15 bucks a snort.

Here's some more eye candy for ya.

Congratulations on winning that beautiful rifle, and paying the tax. That is a great one to be able to keep. Are you going to hunt with it, or just plink??? I guess you could leave it unfired, but...........

Thanks for the pictures ... beautiful gun. I love the look down the muzzle. If you take it out to hunt deer, don't forget to bring along a squeegee so you can recover the meat from the surrounding brush. :)
