A couple of Browning 1895 questsions

Post by SPROCKET »

Howdy all, I need a little help with two totally unrelated things.

Number one: what the heck is this dingus?
Number two: is there a decent manual that covers dis-assembly of one of these beasts?

I have a Browning 1895 in .30-40 Krag on which I installed a Providence Tool Company reproduction of a Lyman 21 receiver sight. This required disassembly of the rifle, which I accomplished using a book titled "The NRA Guide to Rifles & Shotguns". I got it through the NRA store.

The part in question, according to the exploded diagram in my book, is the firing pin recoil lock.
