My New 22 for $85.00! 8-)

Post by Ji in Hawaii »

As many of you know my favorite rifle is my handy little stainless steel 357 mag Rossi R357S. I have been wanting a 22 rimfire barrel for it to complement the additional 410 barrel I already have to create a trifecta gun set. This morning on eBay I found a new 22LR barrel for it for $85.00 which I though was a GREAT price: http://www.ebay.com/itm/141151082633?ss ... 1438.l2649 A new 22 for $85.00! I am ecstatic and can't wait till it arrives! :D :D :D

Ji,
How does the Rossi transition from centerfire to rimfire?

Look at the 22 barrel ! See how it is offset. That's My guess.

Ingeniously the chamber is offset so the rim is center.

Ji - The end of the chamber looks like somebody was dry-snapping it a LOT, and might benefit from the application of a chamber ironing, to swedge the metal back into the chamber wall it came from.

Brownell's has the tool @ $22 IIRC.

I noticed that. He was selling 4 of these barrels total so I'm hoping mine isn't the one in the picture. Can't afford any additional tools right now.

Even if it's the 'dry-fired alot' one, I doubt it will be an issue.

You have a terrific three-gun 'battery' now. Maybe toss in a 223 barrel later on, or a 35 Remington, and you'll have about everything 'covered'... 8)

I wish H&R would make a barrel like that for their Handi rifles. I know they make a Versa Pak barrel that will fit on a centerfire frame but they won't sell it as an extra barrel.

Congratulations Ji, I hope you can find ammo for it.

Looks like you are good to go Ji. I like the wood grain on your 357. What is the barrel length on that? Looks like it was cut back some.

I have several bricks from pre-obama days when they sold for less than $10.00, and have a source for relatively affordable 22 shorts at $3.25 a box of 50. I'm good thanks.

I had it cut back from 23" to 16.25" a few years ago. The stock came from the factory painted black covering up the pretty grain, sanded the paint off and coated the wood with several coats of BLO. Also added the Williams WGRS peep sight, and ammo butt-cuff. Satisfied with the results. :D

Amen on dryfire, I'm not losing any sleep over it. :D

I do already have a stainless steel H&R Handi in 223, and the original 357 mag barrel with 180 grain loads keep me happy 35 caliber wise though I have thought about lengthening the chamber to 357 Maximum.

PillHer has the Trifecta in .243, .22lr, and 20 gauge. I would like to get something like that, but in a bigger caliber for the centerfire.

Got the barrel in the mail today. It's brand new still in original plastic bag covered in cosmoline. It snapped shut solid like a bank vault, perfect fit. Only thing the forearm color does not match so I'll sand and oil it. Really like the fiber optic sights very bright and clear for these old eyes. I'm a very happy camper! :D :dblthumb:
