35 Remington Downs Another Hog

Post by Todd1700 »

Shot this one right between the eyes down in the swamp this morning. Only about a 45 yard shot. No tracking job required of course. LOL!

I had the exact same thought.

Is that coloration usual?

In Alabama our wild hogs are a mix of true wild hogs and feral hogs. Most will be the standard dark blackish brown but many will be totally red, or a mix of red and brown like this one. Occasionally you will even see one that still has a patch of white. So no the coloration of this hog is not very unusual at all.

Here in Texas I have seen every color of wild hog there is. Jet black to pure white, red, red and black, tan and black, even that pinto color mixed with other colors. With all the colors, sometimes you might mistake one for a peacock.

Cool. Wild hogs are just a couple counties away from us here, and we'll no doubt be getting some action (and meat) soon...

Looks like you caught one o' them southern Chamelo-hogs in the middle of changin' his camoflauge.

That's a fine looking beast.

With that .35 Rem, was there ever any doubt?
