Found a store with a bunch of ammunition at a good price.

Post by piller »

I was at Alpine Gun Range in Southern Ft. Worth, by Mansfield, on Saturday and they were well stocked with ammo, powder, bullets, and even had a few primers. Everything but the primers was at a very reasonable price.

So...what's the new normal price for .22 bulk packs?

The 1600 round box of CCI MiniMag was 139.99, and that was the most expensive. 50 rounds of 9mm or .40 S&W was about $24.00, and most other items were about that. I have always found that MiniMag was the most expensive .22lr, and this was not as bad as Cheaper Than Dirt's $149.99 for 550 rounds of Remington Golden .22s.

Last time I was out there a Federal 525 round value pack of .22 LR was $48.95. Still high but not nearly as bad as other places I have seen. At the time they would only sell you ammo if you were renting a lane or buying a gun. On another note I walked into the Academy in Arlington and was encouraged by what I saw there. .40, .45, .308, .223, .357 all stacked pretty deep. It was a sight I hadn't seen in a while.

Not much in the way of 9mm but Sixgun fixed me up with some brass so that should be enough to hold me until this blows over.

Glad to hear you're finding ammo and reloading components at more reasonable prices again. :D

Several weeks ago our LGS in the next town had .22RL Federal 325 value packs for $16.99 each with a limit of one per customer. I missed out but found the same Federal value pack in another nearby small town for $19 and was able to buy 3 boxes. Generally, I'm noticing that ammo is starting to show up a little more in the LGSs, but not WalMart yet. Also, I'm starting to see prices come down a little on line, too. That trend tells me I have enough ammo until things get back to normal whatever the "new normal" will be. Certainly it will be more availability and lower prices than now. Examples: the Federal Value Packs at $16.99 and Stingers at $6.99 for a 50 rd. box at my LGS. Winchester .30-30 and .243 also have shown up and prices are a couple bucks under $20 per box.

Good news for all of us in the midwest.

Just to add, Fin, Fur, Feather near Ashland OH, exit 186 off of I-71 is returning to normal also

I was passing through on business last Wednesday. All the ammo was there (limits on amounts though), ditto for reloading. Adequate supplies of primers, CCI at $40, middlin' selection of bullets, etc. They're real thin on pistol caliber but I did find the 110 gr .357 hollowpoints at $19 I was looking for. Looks like they had plenty of cast in the big boxes

Another good sign, they had plenty of MTM ammo boxes. I wrote about this before, I was up there several months ago. The reloaders for .38, 9mm, .45 had flat cleaned them out. They're restocked now.

I didn't make it upstairs to the main gun area but they had a display set up by the stairs with a lot of pistol ammo.

Interesting - it must have been Amish day there. There were a couple big tour buses parked across the street and they were all over the place. Saw one young guy looking real close at an LED headlamp, I was wondering if that would work out better than a kerosene lantern for the barn chores. (grin)

I stopped by my local candy store today and saw that he had a few boxes of .22`s on display with a 1 box limit. Before leaving I said I will take a box of those .22`s you have over there. He said nothing but went in the back and came back with a brick of LR and rang them up @ $26.00 + tax.
The shortage seems to be easing some. It`s nice to have a dealer who will look out for his loyal customers and not gouge like some do. :D :D :D

If you can be there when they stock the shelf at our local Wally World, they are selling the 325 round bulk Federal 22's for $13.99.

Was surprised to day. Stopped by Bi-Mart for other stuff, but noticed a stash of CCI Mini-Mags on the shelf. I bought a few 100 round sleeves for $6.49 apiece. As I recall that was about the normal price a year ago when not on sale. Still haven't seen any bulk packs.
