I stopped by Jackson Armory in Dallas yesterday on the way home. They carry nice old guns. I looked over at a rack of well used 1911 Colt 45s. They were made by Colt and sold to Argentina Police Departments. If you are interested in 1911s you probably are familiar with these. Some had been re-blued? Some had not, but for 995.00 I had to take a look. I like the untouched old finished ones but that's just me. Here is their web page if interested.

$995! Yikes, we used to buy those from Springfield Sporters in PA for $250-300. My how things have changed.
I still have two of the System 27's but my Dad has several of the Colt's produced for the Argentines. He's gonna flip when he sees those prices.
He keeps threatening me that he is gonna sell his 1911 collection, which includes British, Argentine, and Russian contracts along with commercial and GI .45s. He won't but likes to give me a hard time.

Ouch $995 for a reimport (if that's the right word) is ridiculous. And, they are likely well used/abused. I think someone is just trying to take advantage of the current over pricing for firearms. For a really good one (one I hand picked) I might go $400, but even that's a stretch.

Sarco reimported these, they are selling them from $400 to $700 or so depending on condition. Wouldn't be surprised if that's who they bought them from.

Thanks CaptainFinn you found the source. They offer even a better deal. I still haven't decided if I'm going to get one but I might. RR7

Thanks for the web link. Liked the lever 32-20 they had for $1500.00, but not sure if I would pay some of the prices.

Forgive me if I have this wrong but IIRC there were two different guns (3 if you count the Ballester-Molina)
there were the guns made by Colt sent to Argentina and there were guns made down there on colt equipment or at least under license with colt.
I did find this. don't know how accurate it is.
Argentina .45s Historical Data
If so I would think the colt made versions would bring at least this $1000 premium.
