Oh yes! That is nice! How wonderful that folks are still willing to give us neat stuff for this green paper that Bernanke prints up out of thin air.

Re: Here I Go Again
Steve, you are going to love that rifle. I have two Uberti 73`s (long barrel) rifles. One in .45 Colt and one in .32WCF. I hate to say it but those Keith bullets may not have the crimp groove located properly to get O.A.L. you need for proper feeding. My molds that I use in the .45 Colt 73 use RNFP designs and crimp in the groove at proper O.A.L. .
Good luck, Chuck

Re: Here I Go Again
You got a great deal on a fine rifle. I love the checkered pistol grip stock. I have one in .32-20 which I enjoy very much shooting NRA Cowboy Lever Action Silhouette.
Your new rifle will most likely need some trigger work unless you have a muscular index finger. My Lyman digital trigger pull gauge is capable of measuring up to a twelve pound pull, but it would not trip the trigger on my 1873 rifle as received. With a trigger job, my rifle shot some silhouette scores good enough to get me into Master class.
Enjoy your new rifle!

That is a really cool rifle!
Do you have any specific plans for it (e.g. hunting, SASS, etc.)?

Cool and congrats !
We had one of those in the shop last week !
Guys a CASS shooter and wanted the barrel chopped down a bit . Decent looking rifle !
Now you need to get a Uberti 1876 in 50-95 to go with it !

Re: Here I Go Again
Just wanted to mention that the LEE Factory Crimp die is a roll crimp. At least mine is. It has a carbide ring at the bottom that 'post sizes' the cartridge to make sure it is in spec to chamber in standard 45 Colt chamber. I have a Uberti '73 and it is a fine rifle, however it would not feed Keith Semi-Wadcutter out of the carrier into the chamber. I use RNFP bullets and it is a great shooter.
Re: Here I Go Again
SteveCO, SteveCO, SteveCo...where do we begin...every time I see the post heading "here i go again" I know that's it's you and that you just made another gun purchase that all of us wish we could (bad-influence). sir, that is one nice gun, price is good too, i'd call you lucky, but that would be an under-statement. by the way, just purchased my second Henry (Hoo1L carbine), mostly due to your recommendation...:)
Re: Here I Go Again
YES, those really are some of the prettiest lever guns ever made. Hope it shoots like a dream!

Very Nice,I had one a few years ago and it was so darn purty it drove Me nuts. rather than drop it in the mud or watch it get beat up I sold it. the toggle-action still haunts Me.maybe I'll find one that was used in cowboy action shooting and is well seasoned.

Re: Here I Go Again
Happy for you Steve!
I have one just like it only in 44-40 and with a Marbles tang sight. It gets a pretty steady diet of ffg which is what you should use if you really want to make some smoke.
Saw one for sale recently that belonged to a SASS shooter. Had the aluminum lifter and the latest short stroke kit already installed. Of course it was 38/357. About the same money.

Re: Here I Go Again
COSteve if you find out the keiths won't work with your rifle I think I still have some rnf bullets from my 73 days. I still have a wheel gun in 45 LC but it takes anything I feed it. Let me know if you need some rnf's and I'll see what I have. The 73 Winchester's are very fun rifles to shoot but I traded mine off for a 76 in 45/60. Have fun with the new rifle.

Re: Here I Go Again
I've heard that from a couple of people with one. Do you have a method of lightening up the trigger? I know the Rossi '92 inside and out but I have to admit I'm a virgin when it comes to the '73.Shasta wrote:You got a great deal on a fine rifle. I love the checkered pistol grip stock.
