Annie Oakley rides, again
In my over forty years of shooting and buying guns, one model that I always wanted, but somehow never managed to buy, was a Winchester 94422. Oh, sure, I has a Marlin 39A, but that 9422 was always just a bit higher priced than I could afford.
About two months, ago, a local gun store bought a collection of guns and, low and behold, there was a nice 9422, but not just any 9422. It was an Annie Oakley commemorative and likely a first year AO, given its three digit serial number. I guess those guys behind the counter (all members of the same shooting range as me) got tired of me drooling on that gun or maybe they just figured that no guy would ever buy an Annie Oakley rifle. Of course, they also knew me as an avid shooter and gun addict, too, so they knew it would get a good home. Anyway, they made my husband and I a price we could not refuse, so here it is. Still have over a foot of snow, up here, but I'm about to trudge through the snow and shoot it, anyway. I shall endeavor to do Annie, proud, when I do.

WOW! That is beautiful. Congratulations.
That's so pretty I think I'd shoot it in the living room... after the wife went to work.

That's right. If anyone gets a chance to see the PBS special on Annie Oakley, it is well worth seeing. We picked up the DVD. That gal had a tough, tough life but came out a winner. Amazing story..45colt wrote:For the newbies who may not know about ANNIE OAKLEY, IN 1888 before a crowd of 31,000 She was challenged by Miles Johnson the state live bird shooting champion, from N.J. and defeated Him 49x50(31,000 )showed up to See a Shooting Event?????........... .

Hadn't seen your other posts before; welcome to the forum.
Post a 'range report' when you get time to put some rounds downrange with it.

Re: Annie Oakley rides, again
There is one of these listed as NIB with all the paperwork on Gunbroker. A couple bids, it's currently at $1700. Wow. And this with what's described as "a minor safe ding near the toe of the stock" (has a picture of it) that seems not-so-minor to me on a "NIB" gun. You've got yourself a nice one there!

CONGRATS ! ! THAT's what I'd say is a satisfying deal !
I'm glad to see your plan come together - I looked for a .22 mag 9422-XTR for almost 20 years, before I found an an affordable one in pristine condition, several years ago, and know how you must feel.
Please take/post plenty of pics, of your range report - we'll all be looking forward to seeing them.

Caint imagine where I was on Mar 4 when U joined but I missed a Newbie nonetheless. Welcome and congatulations on a Beautiful little Rifle. The 9422 seems so much more a Rifle than the short stroke BL22 by Browining.
