Can't believe I found 336RC .35Rem to go with my 336SC .35

Post by neil mitchell »

Was browsing the local pawnshops last Sat and found this 1968 336RC in .35Rem after buying a 1953 336SC .35 last Monday .Did a little cleanup on it and it looks like this.

The best part is I got it for $230 ! I can't believe that after looking in East Texas for 6 months I found 2 Marlins in .35 Remington in the space of one week.I think I need to buy a lottery ticket.

Good looking rifle Neil. It looks just like mine from 1976. Those models have nice thin forearm wood and Marlin seemed to use good looking walnut. The .35 Remington is a GREAT deer cartridge. I have killed a truck load of deer with mine.

Wow! That gun cleaned right up. One of my best hunting buddies uses that same gun and he has killed a train car full of deer with it. They work.

Neil,

Great looking little carbine, and Ballard rifled too! I always have my eye out for a late 40's early 50's Marlin in .35 Remington so I can understand you being happy!

I know RC stands for Regular Carbine but what does SC stand for??? Maybe Saddlering Carbine?????? Fill me in on what SC stands for please.

Geoff, SC stands for "sporting carbine". It has a 2/3 magazine and forend cap ,no barrel bands.

Neil,

Thanks for the info. I probably should have known that.

Boy I'd like the SC version best, I do believe. I have a 1948 vintage RC that is a KEEPER for sure. Mines in .30-30 though. It is so smooth I can hardly believe a cartridge was chambered when I work the action.
