Weaver side mount "94

Post by canonsix »

I just picked up a Ted Williams Model 100(94 clone) and it came with a Weaver 3a,side mount and Weaver side rail. I took it off,it now has a Williams 5d receiver sight. My question,it has four hole left in the side of the receiver and I want to plug them, what size plugs?????? Thanks, Doug

Now it has been over 30 years,
and you might have thrown me with the exact model designation on the side mount.
But the one I worked on,part of the design criterion was to use existing holes in the gun.
It was also where we learned from Winchester that a line parralel to the receiver, theoretically
transposed to centerline of receiver, could result in as much as 18 inches off target at 100 yards!
There was that much variation of assembly tolerances in the 94 design.

The 94 was " before scopes " era,
Winchester thought that barrel mounted sights were in line with barrel.
They simply continued original design.

I have a Weaver (?) or Williams (?) side mount scope base that uses the front lever pin retaining screw hole and the two rear receiver sight holes. I'm thinking of mounting a 4-12 sniper scope on my Win 94 Trapper 30-30. That way I can shoot deers at 500 yards at night.

NOT, NOT, NOT, NOT, NOTNOTNOTNOTNOTNOTNOTNOWAYINHELLNOTGONNAHAPPEN

What I really bought it for was a template to D&T my 1950 for the receiver sight and keep the holes in the factory location.

I know, I"m deviating from the topik agin. But ... who cares, right.

Don't laugh,
we did all kinds of testing in the basement,
I had a T16 on a 1894 for a test in the underground range.
