Cabin fever remedy

Post by perry owens »

The ranges I shoot on have been inaccessable lately due to floods or snow so to pass the time profitably
I pulled out the trusty welder and made this duelling tree.

We plan to use it for team shoots in CAS side matches.
Got two weeks to the next planned shoot so I've started work on a Texas Star.

Do those alternate/reset on opposing sides? If so I'd like to see how that works on the back, thanks.

One shooter fires at the 3 on the left and the other shooter those on the right. When hit the plates swing round to the other side. The loser is the shooter who ends up with all 6 plates on his side. The upright leans forward slightly so the plates swing uphill and then down on the other side to stay in place. I have a video on my You Tube channel that shows how I made my version.

There are simpler ways of doing it but I wanted to make mine adjustable so it could be used for rifle and shotgun.

Thanks for posting the video. You did a great job on that dueling tree! It is solid, reliable, and best of all adjustable. I especially liked the idea of adding a dowel pin between the target and the arm, giving it added strength. The fact that it can be broken down into manageable components for transportation is a real plus.

I agree Pitchy, but as I've found out to my cost, don't use an angle grinder within 15ft of the loading bench!

We use several of the .22 LR 'flip-up' gongs that have a single target disk up top that 'resets' the four below.

I had two of them at 75 yards and my 10 and 12 year old kids set up with identical Ruger 10/22's. It didn't take long for them to realize that if the other kid had three flipped up and he/she only had one, that the 'solution' was to shoot the other guy's top target so their targets all reset...
