Ain't America Great!

Post by Sixgun »

This sure is a fine country we live in boys! :D The average guy can walk into a local gunshop, spy around, use a scrutinizing eye, spot something in the corner that no one else noticed (with an old price tag :D), and after filling out a 4473, fork over some green notes, and walk out with a Model "A" Uzi, 40 years old, like new, in the soft case, 3 mags, all with the original box and owners manual that are serialized to the gun. :D

Yea, it ain't me, its made in Isreal, but...... but .....but.......well.......like Blaine says........because I can. :D -------------Sixgun

News reporter says it's ridiculous that anybody can walk into any sporting goods store in a mall & buy the identical gun we arm our trooops in Afghanistan with.

He must be in a different part of the country , because I never see full auto stuff & I ask all the time.

Nice find, I've only ever seen one real Uzi in my life and didn't get a chance to fire it

It's only a semi-auto. Can you find somebody to tinker with it :P

Either way, I reckon if you shove an Uzi into an intruders face he's gonna soil his nappy and leave a nasty stink as he runs away.

Jack, I like that look on you. Stylish yet practical ! :D

My local gun shop had one in October I was fondling. I didn't buy it because I didn't think I could pull that look off. I'm just not a trend setter like you.

Have fun reloading those short little 9mm cases!

Thanks fellow dudes. :D You all know this Uzi stuff is extremely out of character for me. I know nothing about them. I even had to read the owners manual to figure out how to open up the folding stock! (You gotta squeeze it)

I used the money I had saved up for the Colt 901 in .308 but I don't think thats gonna happen. I snoozed a few days before that awful shooting in Conn. I had it in my hands but just did not feel right puttin' out big bucks for a self shucker .308 when I already had an M1-A so I told my bud, "Go ahead and sell it". He did and can't get anymore.

So what the heck, this came along at about half what the 901 was bringing and not to mention, I can get all of the 9mm brass I want for free. Stick 5 grains of Unique behind a lead bullet and I can shoot 100 rds of 9mm for $4. Let the brass lay where it falls. The Uzi is blowback operated so lead is OK.

My son calls and tells me, "Get a short barrel and add a suppressor and you will have a dead quiet play toy." Well, thats $400 for the two tax stamps and another $800 for another barrel and the can...............I'm an old head, I'll just keep the 16" barrel and make the noise. :D ---------------Sixgun

OS--pink case? I'll check her out. :D I just looked--pink camo?? Might ruin my reputation. Besides, I'm "in the closet" and can't give myself away! :D

Hey Sixgun!
I love your gunroom atmosphere! Don't have an Uzi, but I do have a couple of classic Egyptian Rasheed "Assault Carbines", 10 shot 7.62x39, that are tuned and ready to go! A bit noisier than the Uzi and I tend to pick up the cases as I can reload Berdan primed cases (even "steel"). Nice find and somewhere in the future you might change the barrel a bit on your own...perhaps... depending upon how attitudes go.

Great find on the Uzi and that last picture is what every school crossing guard should look like. My research says that in Israel, field trips must be accompanied by an armed guard so I'll bet your look is not far off.

I got to shoot a friends several years ago.
He came by the house with it and we made some noise out behind my shop.
In burst mode it don`t take long to empty a mag.
I was surprised how accurate it was. :o

You can if you want to shell out a bunch of cash for the SBR stamp and then wait several months for the Feds to approve it. Then spend the money on the parts.

Yes, Its a simple matter of unscrewing the nut, pulling out the barrel and popping another one in there. But, like you said, "BIG NO-NO" It calls for a $200 tax stamp. What for? to get a barrel thats 6" shorter? Ain't worth it, either way  --------Sixgun
