with .44 specials. I don't think I would pay the price of a Colt for another, even nickel plated.

Rifle? SixShooter? That's a good thing no matter what. Down range, with a rifle or handgun, might be different enough to want to check out.

I have loved my Ruger 44's. Recently added a Marlin 336 Texan in 44 mag. to our stable and we love shooting it, though I have to work through some feeding/chambering issues. My boy killed a nice sized hog down in Texas using a moderate 265 gr. cast 44 Special round. Complete penetration and killed quick. Those big holes are fun to make.
