My new EBSSR and the new toy for the kids ( range update)

Post by JReed »

Well I went and picked up the new rifles last week but have been so busy I hadn't had time to take pics. I had some time tonight so thought I would share.

Here is the EBSSR in .308win its an NEF Survivor(one of the members called it an Evil Black Single Shot Rifle). Right now it is wearing a cheap 4X scope I had on hand if it holds up I may just leave it on as it is really compact and light.

Here is the 22lr Crickett I got for the boys. I cant wait from them to shoot it. :D

Hopefully we can get over to the local indoor range this weekend when I get done with the honey does and put some rounds threw them. I will let you all know how it goes.

Jeremy, my Grandma in Kansas (the one I went to visit in my epic adventure last summer) is in the hospital and probably only has days, maybe hours left. But the pic of your son in the Superman outfit and the red/white/blue rifle made me bust out laughing! What a great pic! You will treasure that one always. Thanks for lightening my mood.

Sorry to hear that. I only have one remaining grandparent so I can sympathize. Glad We could make your day a bit better.

Tutt,
Prayers up for your Grandmother. I lost it for a while when I lost mine. She was somewhere near 95. We never really knew what year she was born, as TN didn't require recording till 1914... I think. But I found out a couple of years ago that the 1880 census put her at 6. She was the "parent" at home when I came home from school. Sure wished I'd paid more attention to her stories as a child. The changes she saw...

Andy, my prayers up to you for your grandparent. I have none left and miss them very much. Sundays were always spent at church then grandparents for dinner.

Jeremy,

looking forward to the range report. My son is home this weekend and he brought the model home that I gave him and said he wanted to go to the range. Its been over 10 years since he has wanted to do that. Enjoy the range time and the time with those good looking boys.

Dear Ysabel, another good laugh on my part! Not trying to hijack the thread here. However, I also want to acknowledge what a good bunch of friends (J.R., Griff, Ysabel and Rjohns) you guys have been to me. Lately, I've been a little disappointed with what is "accepted behavior" on this new forum. It seems to me our moderators have been largely absent. You guys set the standard of moral and gentlemanly behavior, and renew my faith every time. Thank you, and God Bless All of You!

We are all looking forward to them shooting it. I hope I have enough ammo I only have 600 round of 22 on hand  . Growing up my sister and I would go through that much in a few hours with the 22 we had.

Well got to the indoor range this afternoon. The new Handi shot well had a few rounds not fire need to look into this more. After adjustments I had some nice groups except for fliers.

Image
The group on the left is 5 shots( 1.4") the group on the right is 4 shots (.95)

Here is what the kids did with their new .22. My wife threw a couple .45colts at him just to make sure. :D

It was a good afternoon and we cant wait to do it again next weekend.

JReed, good to see the photo of your boys with those smiles and the Crickett. :D I've downloaded lots of critter targets in the past for my kids to shoot at (i.e. rabbits, crows, rats). Take a look at the reactive targets at www.justshootmeproducts.com. My kids really like shooting at the praire dog target we got. I've also purchased plastic animals of all variety to shoot at to keep the kids interested. By the way, I'll be looking for an EBSSR next week at the gun show in Indy. I hope to find one in 44 mag for my 12 y.o. son to deer hunt with next fall. One other question, what are you going to store in the stock of your EBSSR?

Fire making stuff some fishing hooks and line and a small compass. I need to get a slip on recoil pad. That hard plastic but tends to kick you and gets old after a few rounds off the bench.
