Re: POLL: In the court of public opinion
Been making 1911's for a looong time. All the production during the world wars plus commercial, plus the copies made in south america. I 'm sticking with the 1911 by a hair.

I have no idea, but, I'd bet AKs....every Commie country and enemy of the west had millions of them.

Of the two, I'm guessing 1911

Re: POLL: In the court of public opinion
Boy, i would love to know the answer. I'm going to guess the AR has sold more, just because the military probably buys alot more rifles than pistols.

I think the 1911 would be the leader due to longevity. There are a bunch of them around.

Re: POLL: In the court of public opinion
No doubt.........the AR. While the 1911 has been made since 1911, there were only a few million made up until the seventies or so.
AR's are made for not only our military but many foreign countries as well.
Most everyone I know has an AR. Only a few have 1911's. Most 1911's are in the hands of gun savvy shootists.-----------------Sixgun

Re: POLL: In the court of public opinion
Up until the 1980's I would have voted for the 1911 but I believe the AR has surpassed it by now, world wide.

Thanks to Clinton and Obama.Lastmohecken wrote:Up until the 1980's I would have voted for the 1911 but I believe the AR has surpassed it by now, world wide.

They've done more for gun ownership than they can imagine.

Re: POLL: In the court of public opinion
I'll go 1911. You know the Chinese (norinco) made a copy of the 1911. They are no longer imported to america, but they sell lots of them in other places like asia and the old russian countries.
