leather belts

Post by rossim92 »

anybody here make custom leather belts? I am looking for one that is 1 7/8 wide and 46 " long. nothing fancy, just got my work uniforms and they have two inch wide loops. My belt is only one and a half inches wide, and the top of my pants roll over the edge of the belt. I found two inch belts online but i think they will be a bit tight in the loops to thread through the loops easily. any suggestions! Not looking to spend a fortune to hold my drawers up :o . Haven't been to walmart yet to see what they have in stock. thanks

I do leather work but you will find the cost of leather so high that you can buy one as cheap as you can make one.(plain leather belt)
With shipping on top of it and cost of a buckle. Finding one locally is the way to go.
Now if you were talking holsters and gun belts, that is different. They are priced commensurate with quality and demand a price accordingly.

Would this style work for you? They can be made in brown or black leather and any length within reason. 1.8" for this style, other styles are 1.5."

A couple years ago I wanted a plain black pants belt big enough to fit me. I could not find any locally.
So I went to Tandy Leather on line and ordered a blank. Came with the buckle, the pre-cut belt, and the little ring the extra end of the belt fits into.
I also ordered die and finish.

When I got here I made it to fit myself and it cost less than what I could have bought a new belt on line for. What they'd cost now I don't know. But my home finished belt has held up just fine.

I've made belts in the past from strap and accessories from Tandy but to be honest you might take a look at your local lumber yard and home improvement stores for 2" tool pouch belts. Plenty sturdy and usually around $20.

Galco pants belts - will 1.75" do?
http://www.usgalco.com/HolsterP2.asp

EDIT - when I re-clicked on the above link (which wasd supposedly the right belt page) just a generic page with little on it come up. If the same happens to you, go to the main site index and click on belts, then once on that page select 1-3/4" and several candidates show up.
Good luck!
