No Gold for China in

Gun Making!!

The Chinese "go to gun" I recently bought is going back, less than a box of shells and I can move the barrel in the action from side to side! I reckon a few boxes of high brass and she'd rattle more than Grandmas teeth.

Griff, I think the problem with Chinese guns is inconsistency, some are fine and others not so fine. Recently I bought two Chinese air pistols, one for me and one for Shirley, can't hit a barn door with mine but with Shirley's pistol I can hit empty 20GA shells all day..
Anyway I have learnt my lesson and won't buy another Chinese gun unless I get to try it first.

Oh no!

Send it to Pitchy, he can weld some hard facing rods to it on the sides, that'll stiffen it :)

Hope you get your money back.

I think you're right. A friend bought the same model and vintage SG as I have, (about 2 months earlier). His jammed up after just a couple hundred rounds. When it was dissassembled, it was found that two springs were left rough, causing small bits of plastic to get scraped off the SG shells and build up under the springs. Sufficient buildup and it wouldn't feed. He removed the offending burrs, and cleaned up the accumulated plastic, and back to running fine again.

I know that ain't your problem... that has to be simply bad metallurgy. Sure hope they stand behind it and give you a refund.

I was reading that workers in Chinese factories are practically prisoners, and sometimes try to commit suicide by jumping out of the factory windows.

If conditions are really that bad, the last thing on their minds is going to be quality.

Game Keeper,

Since the first Norinco pistols came on the scene in the states some years ago I have categorically refused to buy any COMMUNIST Chinese made gun. I won't do it. I don't care if it's the only example of that type of gun made, I just won't.
It's the one place in this world where I can still buy guns made here in the US or at least in non COMMUNIST countries.
As to their quality, I've heard much the same as you've found and Griff has mentioned, some are good, some are junque.

Roland,

If that is such a good pistol why in the hell are you leaving sit on on the ground all wet? I wouldn't pose my worst gun like that.

Well I guess not all folks are alike, I for instance, have no use for safe queens, or a gun that would take damage from that kind of 'rough' treatment, I'd junk it myself before selling it if so.

The Chinese SKSs I've tried have all been good guns. Completely reliable and accurate.

GK - sorry to hear that. My experience, like others, has been rather random. Some good pieces, some bad. Price is sometimes worth the chance...
